About the Role

As a Data Scientist II, you will work remotely in support of a federal client based in Washington, DC. You will be responsible for developing advanced machine learning solutions, cybersecurity analytics, automation tools, and data-driven insights that help improve cyber defense capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Learning and Advanced Analytics

  • Design and develop machine learning models and algorithms.
  • Create innovative analytical methodologies to solve complex cybersecurity problems.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to large datasets.
  • Generate actionable insights from structured and unstructured data.

Cybersecurity Data Science

  • Develop data models and machine learning solutions for cyber defense initiatives.
  • Support cybersecurity operations through advanced analytics.
  • Design custom searches, security applications, and automated workflows.
  • Analyze security events and improve threat detection capabilities.

Data Engineering and Automation

  • Build and maintain data workflows that integrate multiple data sources.
  • Engineer scalable data pipelines for cybersecurity and operational analytics.
  • Automate security tool management and reporting processes.
  • Ensure data integrity, quality, and accuracy across systems.

Cloud and Infrastructure Support

  • Work with cloud service providers and cloud-native technologies.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions.
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker.

Reporting and Visualization

  • Develop dashboards and visualizations for cybersecurity reporting.
  • Support executive and operational reporting requirements.
  • Present analytical findings to stakeholders and technical teams.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data science, machine learning engineering, data engineering, or software development.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, C++, R, Scala, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience designing machine learning and advanced analytics solutions.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms and services.
  • Experience working with cybersecurity data and security operations.

  • Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms.
  • Host-based and network security technologies.
  • Threat detection and cyber defense methodologies.
  • Security analytics and automation.

  • Statistical modeling and predictive analytics.

Salary and Benefits

Competitive Compensation

Salary Range:

  • $60,000 – $180,000 USD annually

Actual compensation is determined by experience, skills, education, location, and contract requirements.
